History of L.B. Evans

In 1804, brothers Thomas and Amos Evans started a small shoe business in South Reading. They ran a general store and cut the leather for their shoes in a small shop. The actual shoemaking was outsourced to people in the town, who used the uppers, soles, counters, and heels supplied by Thomas and Amos. The shoes were sewn by hand whenever the shoemaker-farmers had spare time.

Today, L.B. Evans is a division of Daniel Green Enterprises.
